At its June 22 meeting the West Stockbridge Select Board handled multiple community items: the appointment of a Vision Committee member, permissions for an upcoming car show, approval of utility pole placements, and notice that the Zucchini Festival has been canceled for 2026.
Vision Committee Chair Joe Roy asked the board to appoint John Orloff, a long-time resident who attends most committee meetings; Orloff thanked the board and was appointed by unanimous vote after a motion by Kathleen Keresey and a second by Andy Krouss.
Organizers told the board the Zucchini Festival has been canceled for 2026 after the volunteer committee fell approximately 40 volunteers short of its June 1 goal; organizers said they will begin planning for 2027 this fall and are exploring alternative community events for this summer and expanded participation from neighboring towns.
Resident Logan Tonini, representing Wisdom Lodge Free Masons, requested permission to hold a car show on Town Hall property in July or August 2027; the board unanimously agreed to allow the event, and Tonini will return with specific dates after checking regional schedules.
National Grid representative Steven Hayward requested permission for three pole locations (two at West Center Road and Maple View Drive; one at Pixley Hill Road and Great Barrington Road). Hayward said all abutters were notified, and the board approved the pole placements unanimously.
