Owner seeks special exception to open museum at 137 E. Main; BZA hearing set Oct. 1

An application to establish a museum at 137 East Main Street in Sharpsburg will go before the Board of Zoning Appeals on Oct. 1 after town staff determined the proposal requires a special exception in the TR zoning district.
Zoning Administrator Tim Lung told the council the application from Robert Campbell has been forwarded to the Planning Commission for a recommendation, and that a public hearing notice will be posted on the property, published in The Town Crier and the town’s social media, and mailed to adjoining property owners.
The council did not take final action on the application at the Sept. 9 meeting; the BZA public hearing on Oct. 1 is the next formal step for the applicant.
The Planning Commission will issue a recommendation before the BZA hearing, and neighbors will receive formal notice of the hearing.
