Select Board members told residents June 22 that West Stockbridge is eligible to receive $58,862 in state grant funding through the Seasonal Communities designation, and that staff and trustees plan to pursue the opportunity.
Kathleen Keresey and Affordable Housing Trust Chair Chris Powell described allowable uses including planning and zoning work required under the designation, infrastructure improvements and other actions to support future housing development. They said a pre-application may be submitted for state review, after which state staff will work with the town to develop a competitive final application. The application window opens July 1 and closes August 28.
Kathleen and Chris said they will coordinate with the Planning Board to develop a joint application aimed at maximizing the use of funds across eligible projects; technical assistance from the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission is available.
