Select Board appoints Kadin Shafiroff to West Stockbridge Police Department

The Select Board voted June 22 to appoint Kadin Shafiroff as a West Stockbridge police officer after Acting Police Chief Mike Renton introduced him and presented department activity statistics for the first half of 2026.
Renton reported 48 arrests, nine vehicle-related accidents, 31 incidents and 989 car stops from Jan. 1 through June 11, 2026, and said the uptick in recorded activity reflected proactive policing and more police encounters rather than an increase in crime. He noted Shafiroff specializes in crimes against children and serves with the Berkshire County Drug Task Force; the chief described Shafiroffas an asset to the department.
Kathleen Keresey moved and Toby Casey seconded the appointment; the board voted unanimously to appoint Shafiroff.
