The West Stockbridge Select Board voted June 22 to decline its right of first refusal under Chapter 61A for a 27.7-acre parcel at 0 Furnace Road, Town Administrator Marie Y. Ryan said.
Marie told the board owner Robert Liston is selling a combined property that includes about 27.7 acres in West Stockbridge and a connected 92-acre parcel in Richmond; the West Stockbridge parcel is landlocked, largely wetlands and classified in the Chapter 61A agricultural/horticultural program. Because the proposed sale is contingent on the Richmond parcel sale, Marie said the town would need to waive its right to allow the transaction to proceed.
Toby Casey moved, Andy Krouss seconded, and the board unanimously "elected not to exercise or assign its right of first refusal or option to purchase the property at 0 Furnace Road in West Stockbridge." The board recorded no conditions on the waiver in the meeting minutes.
The town's decision removes a local procedural step required under Chapter 61A but does not affect any separate approvals that may be needed in Richmond for the larger sale.
