Commission approves ground sign for Sierra Subaru at Interstate Parkway

The Green City Planning & Zoning Commission voted to approve an identification sign for Sierra Subaru at 1089 Interstate Parkway during its Feb. 18 meeting.
Tom Yankovich of Ellet Sign Company told the commission the proposal is for a double‑faced, densified ground sign with a 4 ft 4 in face by 7 ft 10 in face, fabricated of heavy‑gauge aluminum with routed and push‑through copy and a vacuum‑formed Subaru logo. "We're asking for your approval for 1 double face ground sign," Yankovich said, adding the nighttime illumination is limited to copy and logo to avoid excessive glare.
Planning staff confirmed the total overall height is 6 ft 10 in and the side face area is 30 square feet, both within the city's code. A staff planner noted wall signage for the building had been approved administratively and recommended approval of the ground sign as submitted.
Council liaison Jeff Noble asked whether the applicant would seek space on the larger Interstate Parkway freestanding commercial sign; staff said there had been no conversation about replacing that sign at this time. After brief commissioner questions, a motion to approve the sign carried on a voice vote with all members recorded in favor.
The approval was limited to the sign as submitted; any future changes to height, illumination or location would require further review. The applicant may proceed with permitting and sign fabrication once annexing administrative steps are complete.
