Board members heard presentations from applicants including the Aids Support Group of Cape Cod (requesting $7,500, after $3,250 in FY2026), BFREE Wellness ($10,000, first request), Behavioral Health Innovators ($3,000, after $2,200), Champ Homes ($10,000, first request), Duffy Health Center ($10,000, after $4,100), Family Table Collaborative ($55,088, after $2,700), Cape Wellness Collaborative ($94,125, first request), Cape Cod Community Pantry ($19,000, after $18,675), and the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod (VNA) which requested $20,000 after receiving $5,000 in FY2026 and reported serving more than 850 Yarmouth residents. Other presenters included the Brazilian Resource Center, Cape Cod Bright Lights, Latham Centers, Cape Cod Foster Closet, Sight Loss Services, Independence House and Housing Assistance Corporation.
Board members asked applicants for clarifying details on program outcomes and metrics. Mary Craig pressed the Aids Support Group on a drop in reported statistics; the applicant said lower counts reflect successful outreach and prevention work. Hillard Boskey asked about reported use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Yarmouth and received an explanation of the programs reporting. Behavioral Health Innovators said many referrals are for vaping (both THC and nicotine) and noted plans to track high-school graduation as an added metric. Latham Centers said about 40% of their adult participants are Yarmouth residents; Independence House reported serving 328 Yarmouth residents last year.
Department staff asked Board members to review applications during the week before a formal vote; the Board jointly decided that $20,000 would be the maximum award per organization and scheduled final funding approvals for the next meeting.
Votes at the meeting were limited to routine procedural items: the Board approved the June 1, 2026 minutes (motion by Scott Brewer, seconded by Mary Craig; all in favor) and later adjourned by the same vote pattern.
The Board did not make final award decisions at this meeting. The next scheduled meeting will include the vote to allocate FY2027 Human Services Grant funds.
