Cabell County Schools swears in new board members, elects Polley president and Childers vice president

During introductory remarks, Superintendent Thomas urged the board to work together in support of students and staff.
Polley and Childers both took part in early procedural votes and in setting the calendar. After brief discussion about moving meeting times to better accommodate working families and recognition ceremonies, the board voted to retain regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and to hold board workshops the 1st Monday at 4:30 p.m.
The board also approved a consent agenda that bundled the contracts, procurement items and personnel changes presented during the meeting; that motion carried by voice vote. The meeting adjourned after a brief legal update and the board took a one‑week recess.
