Ivins Council names Chuck Gillette city manager

The Ivins City Council on Sept. 4 unanimously approved Resolution 2025‑14R appointing Chuck Gillette as the city's new city manager.

The vote followed a motion to suspend the rules and move the item up on the agenda. After a short introduction of the resolution and a brief endorsement from council members, the council conducted a roll call in which Councilmember Anderson, Councilmember Gillispie, Councilmember Barton and Councilmember Scott each voted "Aye"; Mayor Chris Hart also cast an affirmative vote.

The resolution formalizes the outcome of a months‑long search. Gillette, who has served the city in multiple capacities for two decades, told the council he was excited for the role and reiterated themes from the meeting invocation when he pledged to "lead with wisdom, integrity, and humility." "I come into it with a lot of excitement," he said.

Mayor Chris Hart read the resolution and noted the council's confidence in the appointment, describing the search as thorough and professional. Council discussion before the vote was limited; several members praised Gillette's institutional knowledge and continuity for operations.

The council also approved the city manager's employment agreement by motion immediately after the appointment. The contract text had been made available for council review prior to the vote.

The city will move forward with staffing and onboarding under Gillette's leadership; council and staff said they expect Gillette to continue meeting with department heads and to advance a 90‑day plan for administrative priorities.

The appointment is effective immediately as reflected in the council resolution and accompanying employment agreement.
