Chair appoints additional search committee members; panel meets in executive session on county administrator search

The Lancaster County ad hoc county administrator search committee appointed seven additional members and later met in executive session to discuss personnel matters connected to the county administrator search.

The committee’s chair opened the meeting and asked for approval of the agenda. "Can I get a motion to approve the agenda?" the chair asked; Miss McGriff moved the motion and Mr. Neal seconded it, and the committee approved the agenda unanimously.

The chair announced appointments to the search committee, naming John McCain, Melissa Thornton, Scott Broom, Jeff Kato, Stephanie Snowden, Jessica Eason Fogi and Sabrina Harris as additional members.

The chair then moved that the committee go into executive session "in regards to 1 item. The discussion of personnel matters pursuant to the South Carolina code of laws 30-4-70(a)(1) relative to the search for a county administrator and to invite representatives of the search firm, Find Great People, and to discuss the item," and the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.

After returning from executive session, Mert DuPont provided the official for-the-record statement: "The ad hoc county administrative search committee met in executive session in regards to 1 item. The discussion of personnel matters pursuant to South Carolina code of laws 30-4-70(a)(1) relative to the search for a county administrator. No motions were made. No votes were taken." The committee then moved to adjourn.

The meeting record shows unanimous procedural votes to approve the agenda and to enter and exit executive session; the executive session itself was limited to personnel matters and, according to the committee’s public statement, produced no motions or formal votes.
