The Closter Board of Education approved a slate of routine business items at its Feb. 12 meeting, voting by roll call on minutes, discipline affirmations, contracts, grants, purchases and personnel actions.
Board operations: The board approved the Jan. 22, 2026 meeting minutes and affirmed superintendent HIB determinations for incidents TMS-2526-14 and TMS-2526-15. The roll-call for that set of motions (A-F) recorded YEAS from Mr. Shih, Ms. Argenziano, Ms. Estrems, Ms. Micera, Ms. Lee, Ms. Finkelstein and Ms. Ravid; Mr. Paldi recorded an abstention; NAYS: none.
Fundraisers, donations and programs: Tenakill Middle School fundraisers (Green Team plant sale; Student Council Valentine's lollipop sale; Student Ambassadors snack sale) were approved. The board accepted a donation of two Accuscope 3080 microscopes (total value $500) from John Simon Instrument Company. Hillside Elementary summer programs (multiple one-week sessions; tuition $185 per student per week) and Closter Recreation Department—s use of Tenakill Middle School for its summer camp (June 29—Aug. 7, 2026) were approved.
Grants and payments: The board approved payments of bills for Jan. 23-31 in the amount of $820,921.38 and for Feb. 1-12 totaling $1,543,605.25. The board also approved an amendment to the ESEA Title I grant to add $6,712 in carryover funds, increasing the grant to $55,521.
Purchases and contracts: Trustees approved multi-year license agreements and subscriptions including JAMF Pro ($22,491), World Almanac for Kids (Infobase, $2,256.45), Alexandria library automation (COMPanion; Hillside $4,773, Tenakill $4,593), World Book ($2,894.06), Scholastic Digital Bookflix ($4,275), Wixie (Tech4Learning, $6,786), and PebbleGo (Capstone, $6,488.40). The board also approved substitute nursing contracts with EmpowerCare Healthcare Staffing, BrightStar Care and Home Care Medical Staffing.
Personnel: The board approved an internship for Sarah Cho (physical therapy intern), approval of a parent-paid behaviorist for a named student, paid leave for a Tenakill Grade 8 teacher (Scott Lewis, Feb. 25—Mar. 30), the appointment of Bernadette Flood as a Tenakill special-education teacher (MA+30 Step 9, $92,450, start Mar. 2 pending background check), acceptance of the resignation of Susan Osso (effective Apr. 6), and other personnel adjustments. Personnel motions (A-G) were approved by roll call: YEAS: Mr. Shih, Ms. Argenziano, Ms. Estrems, Ms. Micera, Ms. Lee, Ms. Finkelstein, Ms. Ravid, Mr. Paldi; NAYS: none.
These routine items were presented across committee reports and were approved without further substantive debate.
