Irvington council honors local leaders for Women’s History Month

At the March 24 meeting the Irvington Municipal Council adopted resolutions honoring seven Women’s History Month honorees for 2025.
The council commended Shante Barr (Manager, Senior Services Division, Department of Health & Senior Services), Dr. Charnette Frederic (Council 2nd Vice President), Josie H. Monel (Acting Director, Irvington Neighborhood Improvement Corporation), Marie F. Beauzil (educator, Irvington High School), Kimberly Pierre (Deputy Director, Health & Senior Services), Kyana Woolridge, Esq. (Director, Community and Economic Development) and Qadriyyah Sakhu (President & CEO, People Helping People In Need, Inc.).
Mayor Tony Vauss is quoted in the minutes praising Ms. Barr: "Ms. Shante Barr has transformed our senior services program into a beacon of hope and support for our seniors. Her passion and dedication are evident in every program she develops, making a lasting impact on the lives of those she serves." The council invited attendees to community events, including a Community Iftar Dinner on March 26, 2025.
