Irvington council adopts local support for dispensary application and records conflicting cannabis resolution language

The Irvington Municipal Council on March 24 adopted a resolution providing local support for The Dispensary Spot LLC to include in an application to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission. The minutes identify the applicant as Rachel Zorger and the proposed site at 536–544 Chancellor Avenue.
On the same subject, the council also adopted a separate resolution with conflicting language. The item’s title and preamble indicate the intent to "lift the temporary suspension of the processing of applications for support to apply"; however, the operative language of the resolution as recorded in the minutes states that the "Township of Irvington is hereby suspending the process of applications for cannabis licenses ... pending amendment to Ordinance No MC3832." The minutes do not record additional explanation or a corrective amendment on the record.
The local support resolution is a routine part of the New Jersey licensing process: state rules (N.J.A.C. 17:30‑5.1) require proof of local support in some license applications. The minutes show both items were adopted by the council during the March 24 meeting.
