The Blackstone‑Millville Regional School Committee voted July 6 to approve an interim superintendent contract with Maureen Venienda. The contract starts July 27, 2026 and runs through June 30, 2027, as the committee reported reaching agreement with the candidate.
Chair Tyler Locken moved the contract approval and conducted a roll call; the committee voted in favor. Locken also said, because of the contract start date, the committee approved amending the assistant superintendent’s contract to extend coverage through approximately July 26 so the district maintains certified superintendent coverage during the transition.
Both the interim contract and the assistant superintendent extension passed by roll call with unanimous support from members present.
Why it matters: The actions provide immediate leadership continuity as the district transitions to an interim superintendent while permanent arrangements are finalized.
