The Jackson County Board of Education moved into executive session March 9 to discuss personnel matters and later approved the superintendent's personnel recommendations.
Chair called for an executive session on personnel; the motion to go into closed session was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. After reconvening, the board voted to approve the personnel report following a motion by Mr. Johnson and a second by Mr. Claresy; the transcript records unanimous ‘‘Aye’’ from those present.
Superintendent Philip Brown also announced district staffing changes in open session: he said Miss Gillespie will lead the opening of Hushton High School and that Lev Hartnop will become principal at Jackson County High School, both with a July 1 start date. The chair and superintendent offered congratulations to the staff members chosen for new assignments.
Why it matters: personnel approvals and principal assignments determine school leadership and affect operations, student programming and community relations at the building level. The board did not provide written personnel documents in the public transcript.
