At the start of the March 10 meeting, Calistoga resident Dan Herndon used the public‑comment period to urge the city to end its contract with Flock public‑safety cameras, citing recent internal audits in Oxnard and Ventura that he said showed federal and out‑of‑state agencies had accessed camera data.
"This is a clear, direct violation of California law," Herndon told the council, and he recommended a city audit of who has accessed Calistoga’s data and, ultimately, cancellation of the contract "so you can save $17,500 every year to go to something else worthwhile in the city of Calistoga." He suggested the council may be better placed than an individual to pursue records under the California Public Records Act.
Council members did not debate the matter during the meeting; the mayor thanked Herndon for his comments. No staff response, report or action was scheduled in the meeting record.
