Altenburg District #48 board approves routine business, tables audit and defers transportation

The Board of Education of Altenburg District #48 conducted routine governance business at its Dec. 14 meeting, approving the agenda and prior meeting minutes and authorizing payment of the December bills.
The agenda was accepted as amended (motion by Board member Brittany Hecht, second by Board member Lindsay Palisch) and the minutes from the previous meeting were approved (motion by Lindsay Palisch, second by Candy Mueller); both motions are recorded as passing 6-0 in the minutes. The board also approved the December bills as presented; the minutes do not list invoice amounts or account codes.
Superintendent Debbie Haertling distributed evaluation packets for her upcoming January 2024 evaluation. Haertling also outlined upcoming APS events, reported that Mrs. Fieser has completed her curriculum work, and said Mrs. Boxdorfer will post curricula on the district website in January.
The board tabled approval of the 2021–2022 audit until the auditor completes the work and required reporting from DESE is available; no vote tally is recorded for that item in the minutes. Discussion of bus transportation was deferred to January because Haertling said she had only just received related information and requires time to research options.
