Selectmen approve deputy health appointment, delayed transfer station opening and two fishing tournaments

The Board of Selectmen approved several routine but formal items during its March 3 meeting.
Appointment: The board approved Selectman Charles M. McGee’s motion to appoint Charles Wise as Deputy Health Officer as recommended by Health Officer Austin Wakefield, pursuant to RSA 128:5-b. The appointment is conditional on completion of the state-mandated three-hour initial health officer course described in RSA 128:8. The motion passed 4-0.
Transfer station: Selectman James F. Gray moved to delay opening the Transfer Station on Town Meeting Day, March 14, 2026, until after the meeting adjourns so employees may attend; Selectman Karel A. Crawford seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
Permits and abatement: The board approved launch requests for two fishing tournaments (NH Bass Anglers, June 26, 2026 at Lees Mills for 15 boats; NH Bass Casters, Sept. 20, 2026 at States Landing Beach for 25–30 boats) and approved a $64 tax abatement to Samuel Lutner for a travel trailer assessed at 29 Long Island Road #42 (MBLU# 254-024-000-CG0-042). All votes were recorded 4-0.
