Brundidge council awards $1.5 million wastewater contract, approves budget changes and drops litigation with Eeztec

The Brundidge City Council on Sept. 16 awarded Blankenship Contracting, Inc. a $1,499,037 contract for Contract 1 — treatment and collection system improvements at the wastewater treatment plant, approved FY2025 Budget Amendment No. 2 and took several administrative actions, all by unanimous vote.
Council member Mr. Gaynor moved to award the wastewater contract per the City Engineer's recommendation under Resolution No. 2025-13; Mrs. Rodgers seconded and the motion carried with all present voting yea. The award covers Contract 1 for treatment and collection system improvements at the wastewater treatment plant in the bid amount of $1,499,037.
Mrs. Rodgers moved to adopt FY2025 Budget Amendment No. 2 after the City Clerk reviewed the amendment; Mr. Gaynor seconded and the council voted unanimously to approve the budget amendment. The minutes do not specify line-item changes or the dollar amount of the amendment beyond its identification as Amendment No. 2.
Bids for Contract 2, the control building at the wastewater plant, were described as coming in over budget. Mrs. Hall moved to table the awarding of Contract 2 “until further research can be considered”; Mr. Gaynor seconded and the council voted to table the matter. The minutes do not specify the amount by which bids exceeded the budget or the schedule for the planned research.
The City Manager informed the council that the legal action by Eeztec against the City had been dropped by Eeztec. Following that report, Mrs. Rodgers moved that the council agree to drop the City's legal action against Eeztec so the matter could be resolved; Mrs. Hall seconded and the motion carried with all voting yea.
The council approved a Blankenship Contracting proposal to provide and install new mooring for all aerators and mixers at the wastewater treatment plant for $55,250. Mrs. Rodgers moved the measure and Mr. Gaynor seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Finally, Mrs. Rodgers moved to continue the FY2025 budget until such time as the FY2026 budget is approved; Mrs. Hall seconded and the council voted in favor. With no further business, Mrs. Rodgers moved to adjourn, Mrs. Hall seconded, and the meeting concluded.
