The Clarkston Community School District Board of Education elected Stephanie Crane president during its organizational meeting on Wednesday evening and filled its officer posts for the coming year.
Crane, who presided over the meeting after being chosen temporary chair, was nominated and elected president following a motion to close nominations. "I appreciate your faith in me," Crane said after the voice vote. The board also elected Steve Hyer as vice president, Amanda Love as treasurer and Elizabeth as secretary; each election passed by voice vote.
The votes were conducted according to board procedure: nominations were opened, a motion to close nominations was made and seconded, and members voted by voice. Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda by roll-call vote, with Missus McGinnis, Mister Clark, Missus Love, Mister Neid, Mister Hyer, Missus Crane and Missus Egan all recorded as voting yes.
The officer elections were procedural and carried without recorded opposition. The board recessed at the end of its business to meet for a retreat; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 10 at 7 p.m.
