Weber County certifies June 23 primary results, office reports 37.8% turnout

The Weber County Board of Commissioners convened as the county board of canvassers on July 7 and voted to certify the results of the June 23, 2026 primary election.

Lauren Schaeff, who presented the canvass report, told commissioners the office recorded 71,944 active registered voters for this set of races and a voter turnout of 37.8 percent. She said roughly 27,000 ballots were counted, 42 provisional ballots were counted, 189 ballots were rejected, and 948 mailed ballots were recorded as undeliverable. Schaeff also described categories for rejected returns, including signature mismatches, unsigned envelopes and late returns.

The commissioners conducted a roll-call vote to certify the canvass. A motion to approve the results was made and seconded; named commissioners were polled and the motion carried, formally certifying the canvass report.

Schaeff read summary results for multiple races as recorded in the canvass report, including winners reported in state and federal races. Commission members thanked elections staff for preparing the summary and for responding to clerical questions about mailed-ballot counts.

The canvass certification completes the county's formal step of validating the June 23 primary returns; the county clerk's office will retain the official canvass records as required by state procedures.
