Mayor Damien Boley appointed Chelsea Dana to the Smithville Board of Aldermen for Ward II during a special session on Oct. 7, 2025, and the Board confirmed the appointment by roll-call vote.
The appointment followed the resignation of Alderman Russell, effective Sept. 24, 2025. At the 6:30 p.m. meeting in City Hall Council Chambers, the Board recorded a roll-call vote: Alderman Dan Hartman voted "Aye," Alderman Leeah Stone voted "Aye," Alderman Kelly Kobylski voted "Aye," Alderman Marv Atkins voted "Aye," and Alderman Melissa Wilson voted "Aye." The tally was Ayes 5, Noes 0. Mayor Boley then declared Chelsea Dana the Alderman for Ward II.
City Clerk Linda Drummond administered the oath to Chelsea Dana, formally swearing her in as Ward II Alderman. The clerk recorded the staff present and the action in the meeting minutes.
The appointment filled the vacancy created when Alderman Russell resigned effective Sept. 24, 2025. No additional debate or amendments to the appointment were recorded. The special session continued with a recognition of the city's Citizens Academy graduates before adjourning at 6:41 p.m.
