Commissioners acknowledge Truckee River change applications and approve Tri GID easement

Attorney Steve King briefed the board on multiple change applications tied to the Truckee River and regional water agreements, describing both permanent and temporary change requests and notifying the commission about corrected exhibits in later filings.

For Agenda Item 14 (Application 94788), King said the application seeks to change the point of diversion and place of use from Washoe County to the Tri GID service area in Storey County for municipal consumptive use. Commissioner Mitchell moved to acknowledge Application 94788, instruct staff to prepare a letter of recommendation or acknowledgment in support of the action, and the board voted unanimously. Mitchell disclosed the board serves as the ex‑officio board of Tri GID.

King also described three temporary change applications (95008T, 95009T, 95010T) that would, for a one‑year period, move water from Storey County points of diversion to Washoe County under agreements involving Truckee Meadows Water Authority and NV Energy; the board took note of those filings and acknowledged them.

On a related item later in the meeting, staff presented a request from Tri GID for a grant of easement to construct and operate two water tanks on county land along USA Parkway (APN 004‑171‑248665). IT staff reviewed potential interference with existing communication towers and reported no concerns. The board approved the easement unanimously, again noting the ex‑officio relationship to Tri GID.

Steve King flagged that earlier applications had erroneous exhibits that showed small portions of Storey County; he said corrected exhibits have been filed in newer applications so future filings should not include Storey County acreage. The board’s acknowledgments will be included in the meeting record and staff will prepare the recommended letter supporting Application 94788.
