The council opened the public hearing on the ordinance at 7:40 p.m. Resident Bruce Margeson asked whether state or federal funding was available to pay for the equipment. Councilwoman Patricia Hodges said the council had investigated funding options. Mayor Harry Robbins replied, “the only funding is for electric trash trucks,” noting other targeted incentives were not available for the equipment the ordinance covers.
Patricia Hodges moved to approve Ordinance #2025-01 on second reading and to open the public hearing; Bernadette Dugan seconded. After the public comment and discussion the council voted to adopt the ordinance. The motion was approved by the members present.
The ordinance authorizes the borough to appropriate $700,000 for public works equipment and to issue $665,000 in bonds and notes to finance part of that appropriation. The council did not identify other outside funding sources during the hearing.
The ordinance will be entered into the borough records; implementation actions (procurement, bidding, or equipment purchase schedules) were not detailed in the minutes and will be handled by borough staff according to normal procurement procedures.
