Councilman Brian McCarthy described a lighting grant that largely covered a comprehensive upgrade at the Emergency Services Center. According to the minutes, the materials cost totaled $28,243 and the borough received an immediate grant credit of $27,067, reducing the borough’s out‑of‑pocket expense to $1,176. McCarthy also said item '6223' had been sold on GovDeals and proceeds were placed into the operating budget; he said the intent is to use funds to upgrade extrication equipment.
Councilwoman Patricia Hodges provided Public Works updates: lake restrooms will remain open through Veterans Day before seasonal closure, the bulkheading project at the lake is complete, Myrtle Street curb and sidewalk work is scheduled to start around Nov. 19, water meters have been read and necessary repairs completed, and electrical work at the water plant is finished. Council President Oglesby reported that the Personnel Committee had met with union representatives on health insurance and expected HIF (Health Insurance Fund) numbers imminently.
Councilman McCarthy noted an anonymous complaint had been filed about a fire whistle sounding more frequently and recommended honoring local noise‑ordinance time restrictions; he also said the department is documenting Active 911 technical issues. He announced a First Responders' Event to be held Sunday at Proving Ground Church and invited the public.
