Officials said training takes time — roughly 10 months for new dispatchers to be fully trained — and the funding plan anticipates Leeds helping with an initial payment followed by a 50%/50% sharing approach in later years. Commissioners asked that the proposal be placed on the Tuesday agenda so the board can consider personnel and budget implications, including whether to hire additional dispatchers to avoid operational gaps.
Commission staff said more detailed budget numbers and personnel requests would be included on the formal meeting agenda for a vote.
