Commissioner to Offer Reward as County Seeks Leads in Looney House Fire

"I'm gonna be putting up some money for a reward, for, if any information that might lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for burning down the John Lehi house," the commissioner said during the meeting, asking that the potential reward be publicized so others might contribute.
County officials at the same meeting said the fire investigation is being conducted by the State Fire Marshal's Office. An agency official told commissioners the county would welcome monetary rewards to assist the investigation and noted the house is of historical importance to the community.
The commission did not set a dollar amount, and the speaker who proposed the reward did not specify how much he would contribute. Officials said any discussion of county funding for restoration would depend on the outcome of the investigation and on the entity requesting funds.
The matter will be on the agenda for the commission's next regular meeting.
