Rocheport aldermen approve higher Welburn Park fees, authorize work-comp renewal and pay city bills

At a Feb. 3 meeting the Rocheport Board of Aldermen/Woman approved a $300 daily fee for the entire Welburn Park and a $75 shelter-house fee for 2025, authorized payment for a March workers' compensation renewal and voted to pay city bills; Alderwoman Lois Connor reported on Founder's Day and museum projects.
The Rocheport Board of Aldermen/Woman met Feb. 3, 2025, and approved a series of routine motions, including raising rental fees at Welburn Park and authorizing a workers' compensation renewal payment.
Alderman Conrad Yates moved to increase Welburn Park rental fees to $300 per day for the entire park and $75 for the shelter house; Alderman Alan Cook seconded the motion and it carried. The fee change applies to park reservations for the 2025 season.
Alderman Yates also moved to authorize payment for the city's workers' compensation renewal effective March 2025; Alderman Cook seconded and the motion carried. Later in the meeting Yates moved to pay the city's bills and accept the financial statements; Alderwoman Lois Connor seconded and that motion also carried. The minutes do not record individual vote tallies.
Alderwoman Lois Connor updated the board on Friends of Rocheport activities and museum projects, noting that "Founder's Day is May 10th, 2025," and that volunteers will paint and repair museum spaces. Two representatives from the Boone County Historical Society will review museum displays; the group continues to discuss a placement site for a peace pole, completion of a pergola project and a proposed mural on the museum's south side.
Mayor John Zondca reported several administrative items: a vehicle parked on Central Street is expected to be resolved within a week; the city will solicit bids for downtown light poles and for a sign at the top of the hill; a crew will be formed in April to work on the old fire station; and Boone County OEM's sandbag machine is being repaired and will be demonstrated at a later date.
The board moved to adjourn the public meeting and enter a closed session pursuant to section 610.021(1), RSMo, for confidential communication with the city's attorney(s). The minutes were attested by Janice Orton.
