Thorntown council accepts READI grant for Pizza King exterior work; town bears no cost

The Town of Thorntown Council on July 15 accepted a 180 Make-over READI grant to fund exterior work at the Thorntown Pizza King, and the council recorded that the town will have no financial responsibility for the project.
Molly Whitehead and Jessica Schwartz of BCEDC presented the grant application, saying the work covers painting and lighting and that, because of the project's size, it does not trigger the federal requirements that apply to the larger Odd Fellows building project. BCEDC staff told the council the smaller scope makes the bidding process simpler.
Council President Sara Fairfield moved to accept the grant agreement; Council member Dave Williams seconded. The motion passed by a 5-0 vote from the council members present.
Molly Whitehead also reported that a separate READI grant for the Odd Fellows building would fund window replacements and that bidding information for that project will be published soon. Fairfield asked whether BCEDC could assist the town's Redevelopment Commission; Molly replied they could provide help.
Votes at a glance: the council recorded the acceptance of the READI grant for the Pizza King (motion moved by Sara Fairfield, seconded by Dave Williams; vote 5-0). The council also adopted the July 1 minutes (motion passed 5-0) and later adjourned (motion passed 5-0).
