Council rejects rezoning request for 21 Stephendale Court after neighborhood opposition

On the final-reading motion to rezone (moved by Councilman William Hahn and seconded by Councilwoman Victoria Steen), the roll-call vote was 4 Ayes (Steen, Tina Balch, Hahn and Mayor Pro-Tempore Kevin Greven) and 5 Nays (Rob Kessinger, Joshua Vroman, Nathan Chirban, Megan Johnson and Mattias Penner); Council Members Jackson and Fridley were absent. Because the motion did not achieve the necessary two-thirds support under local procedures when petition thresholds are met, the rezoning failed.
What happened next: The denial will be recorded by Community Development staff and the applicant will be notified. Council did not take alternative action on the parcel at this meeting.
