At its Jan. 14 meeting the Board of Aldermen of the City of Shrewsbury voted unanimously to give first reading to an ordinance granting a special-use permit to the Central Core Fire Training Center to construct and operate a training and recreation facility at 4224 Carr Lane Court.
A motion for first reading on BILL NO. 4036 was made by Alderman Presley Barker and seconded by Alderperson Bette Welch; the motion passed with a unanimous vote. The ordinance was presented as the item for a public hearing earlier in the meeting.
The permit would allow the applicant to build and operate a facility described in the ordinance as a combined training and recreation center for fire-service personnel and related community uses. The board did not take a final adoption vote; the matter was advanced only to its first reading, which means the ordinance will return for a second reading and a final vote at a later meeting.
