At its Jan. 8 meeting the Village of Kingsley Council completed routine fiscal and administrative business and received multiple staff reports.
On a motion by Trustee Weger, seconded by Trustee Weber, the council accepted the Financial Fund Balance Report. Council then approved bills and additions by roll call: yes votes were recorded from President Lajko, Trustees McPherson, Weger, Wallace, Bott and Weber; Trustee G. Bogart was recorded absent.
Manager Aldrich reported that the only bid received for a Parks & Recreation project was about $1.8 million — significantly over budget — and staff planned a meeting with the library, Wade Trim and MEDC staff to determine next steps. Zoning Administrator Kaitlyn Aldrich said a scheduled ZBA meeting was rescheduled because required 300-foot radius notices were not mailed; the meeting will be rescheduled for later in the month.
DPW (Todd Weaver) raised concerns about impending results if lift station pumps are not addressed immediately. WWTP Report by Josh Hall noted lift station issues and that violations with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) are being addressed, with letters to be sent to residents and staff training underway.
The council also moved its regular meeting date from the second Monday to the second Tuesday of each month; motion by Trustee Bott, seconded by Trustee Weger, carried unanimously among those present.
CPO Dustin Stickler provided updates on calls, arrests and accidents in the staff reports. The public comment roster lists Carrie Armstrong of 8731 Blackman Rd; the minutes do not include the text of comments. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
