Thorntown council approves routine claims, appoints Lindsey DeMass to Park Board and OKs SRF authorizations

The Park Board told the council that Lindsey DeMass had expressed interest in joining that board. Bruce Burtner moved to appoint Lindsey DeMass to the Park Board; the motion was seconded by a council member identified as Gary and approved 4-0. The Park Board also reported a grant request to address invasive species in the community and pollinator gardens but said there is a shortfall covering labor for raised beds, trails and trailheads; the council tabled consideration of covering that funding gap.
The council approved a quoted $5,750 purchase for a panic-bar door for the Clerk/Treasurer and Building Inspector offices, with the minutes stating the cost will be paid from the CCD fund for capital improvements. The minutes attribute the motion to Council President Dave Williams with Bruce Burtner seconding; the vote was 4-0. Council also approved the town's 2025 contract with Western Boone Youth Baseball and Softball after a motion by Dave Williams and a second from Randy Bruder, and accepted two resolutions (2025-5 and 2025-6) to authorize the council president to sign SRF application materials; both actions passed 4-0. Dan Cutshaw, the consulting engineer, told the council he expects the Sanitary Sewer Master Plan to be complete by the end of the month.
With no further business, the council adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
