Council approves multiple construction contracts following public hearings

On the City Hall parking‑lot mill‑and‑overlay project staff recommended the apparent low bid for accessibility and storm‑sewer work; the packet listed Scribe Asphalt and Paving Corporation at $222,674. The council approved the plans, received the bids and approved a contract by a 4–0 vote; the verbal record during the motion referenced a different contractor name. Staff said it will confirm contractor naming in the executed contract documents.

For a PCC pavement rehab project (3rd Street patching) staff presented five bids and recommended the low bidder. The council approved plans and awarded a contract by a 4–0 vote; the transcript shows the recommended low bidder as I‑80 Concrete and a later contract reference as IED Concrete for $439,150. Staff will publish the executed contract with the confirmed contractor name and amount.

Jonathan, the city project manager, told the council that unique project items and some typical items came in higher this year and recommended the low bidders based on the bid tabulation included in the packet. Mayor Edwards and the council voted to approve the actions and directed staff to finalize contract documents and post the awards to the city website.
