Jeanne from town hall presented plans for a Sept. 20 "Dog Day" event and the Marketing Committee voted to form a volunteer subcommittee to assist town staff with programming, vendors and promotion. Jeanne described last year’s event as "laid back" and said organizers aim to make this year bigger while keeping it community‑focused.
During her presentation Jeanne said the event worked well last year with raffle baskets, T‑shirts and local vendors and suggested adding photographers, adoption partners and vendor markets to expand appeal. Committee members suggested a 10 a.m.–2 p.m. window, considered bayside and beachside venues, and discussed logistics like space for dock activities and vendor setup. Jeanne also read a short history of how the event was run last year and emphasized volunteer support would be needed if the event expands.
Chair moved that "the marketing committee may form a subcommittee of volunteers to work on this weekend." Ellen seconded the motion; members then voted to join the town in the event. In discussion that preceded the vote, members committed to recruiting volunteers to staff the weekend and to follow up with the mayor, Bill and the lifeguards for participation.
The committee agreed to reconvene volunteers as needed and to report back on staffing and vendor recruitment ahead of the event.
