The Dewey Beach Marketing Committee on July 8 agreed to intensify promotion of a town‑hall brick fundraising campaign, aiming to drive orders in a narrow window so bricks can be installed before the fall deadline. Chair opened the discussion after staff reported that orders remain "still hanging around that 3 53 60 mark."
Committee members and town staff focused on a two‑pronged outreach plan: publish short, single‑clip videos featuring local business owners and town figures and push those clips via social media with direct ordering links. Kate of town hall said the production team has a folder of clips and can post them but asked for help with light editing; Paul Bauer offered to assist with splicing introductions and closings. Members recommended releasing one video at a time rather than a bulk release to avoid audience fatigue.
The group also discussed timeline constraints: production and lead times mean orders placed in early August are likeliest to arrive before the planned installation; members repeatedly emphasized a short promotional window of roughly three weeks. Kate noted the vendor lead time is about "Month," and members urged that text links accompany each post so a viewer can immediately go to the ordering page. The committee assigned follow‑up tasks: Kate will prepare clips for posting and DM partner businesses when a post is live; Paul will coordinate edits for the mayor’s clip and help with finalizing the videos.
Committee members also reviewed smaller, in‑person outreach: referrals at local events, stickers on delivery bags and volunteer staffing at the end‑of‑season party on the 19th. Chair encouraged individual members to share videos on personal channels and to tag the town and participating businesses to broaden reach.
The committee plans a rapid posting cadence over the next weeks and emphasized ‘‘last call’’ messaging to push orders before the deadline. The marketing committee said it will report back on order velocity at its next meeting.
