Trustees said that money was moved from a locally funded outside (LFO) bucket into the locally funded initiatives (LFI) portion to balance the schematic-phase numbers. The board also noted that a road previously considered from Norwalk Middle School across district property to the new building will not be built; the bus garage is planned on site, which reduces outside costs.
A motion to approve item 4.1 (schematic design) was moved and seconded and passed by roll call. The board then approved item 4.2 to reallocate the LFO/LFI funds to cover the $331,741.52 overage; trustees indicated the district remains "in the green" on paper pending firm bid numbers.
District staff said the state is expected to provide approximately $52,000,000 toward the project and that the district's locally funded share remains under active management while more precise contractor bids are solicited. The board and staff emphasized continued coordination with the OFCC liaison and the design team as the project moves into the next phase.
