St. Clair County schedules April 23 work session to revisit subdivision regulations

County Attorney Kirk told the commission he is continuing legal review and expects to circulate an "affirmed up" version of the regulations for commissioner review within about a week, giving the public time to inspect the document before the scheduled work session. "I hope to have it in within the next week," Kirk said.
Commissioner Stevens said holding a dedicated work session will help publicize the date and allow more citizens to participate. Commissioners approved the motion to set the April 23 work session and asked staff to ensure the draft is posted for review.
The work session is intended to centralize discussion on specific regulations that have prompted citizen inquiries; commissioners repeatedly framed the item as both a legal and practical issue that requires careful public-facing explanations before any final action.
The commission did not adopt regulatory language at the meeting; the action taken was to set the work session date and direct distribution of the upcoming draft for public review. The county attorney and staff indicated they will post the draft and circulate it to commissioners ahead of the session.
