Tax office to switch online payment vendor; new options include Apple Pay and Google Pay

Tabitha Ash, Jackson County tax administrator, told the board the county will change its online payment vendor for real‑estate and personal‑property tax payments and for occupancy‑tax filings.
Ash said the switch aims to improve vendor support, integrate more cleanly with the county’s tax software, provide a mobile‑friendly interface and offer payment options including Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal. She said taxpayers will be able to create accounts to track past payments and set up recurring or installment payments; the new portal will not accept American Express because of higher processing fees.
Ash said the change will not affect registered motor‑vehicle payments processed through the Division of Motor Vehicles, and that collections staff will assist taxpayers with the transition. Staff displayed a mockup of the new payment page and said the county intends to begin communications before tax bills are mailed.

The board asked technical questions about cloud backups and security; Ash said the vendor supports cloud hosting and the county’s tax records will remain secure. No formal action was taken on July 6; the vendor change is informational and staff will proceed with implementation steps.
