The House Children and Youth Committee on a voice and roll call vote agreed to report House Resolution 407, sponsored by Representative Hill Evans, which designates April 11–17, 2026, as the Week of the Young Child in Pennsylvania.
Representative Hill Evans told the committee the resolution recognizes the importance of early-education supports that foster healthy development and reduce cycles of poverty. "When we support programs to foster healthy development in the early years, we're doing the work to guarantee a strong future," she said, and asked members for a "yes" vote.
Danielle, the committee staff member who summarized the resolution, said the measure designates the week and noted its purpose is to celebrate children's success in school and throughout their lives.
Brooke conducted the roll call; the chair later corrected the record to state that HR 407 was reported from committee by a vote of 22–3. The transcript does not record a mover or seconder for the motion to report; the action is recorded as a committee report, not as final passage in the full House.
The committee moved on to other agenda items after the report. No formal amendments to HR 407 were offered during committee discussion.
