"I'm here tonight asking city council to approve a $492,000 increase," the presenting staff member said, noting past repairs had failed to produce a lasting fix.
Council moved and seconded the request and approved the appropriation unanimously (recorded 4 ayes). A councilmember asked that data from the monitoring well be shared automatically with the groundwater authority and water district; staff agreed to check the legal and technical aspects.
The council also authorized a one‑time payment of $115,606.20 from Measure P reserves to Southern California Edison to install electrical service at the Sergeant John Penny Pool complex so site work can continue. Staff described the amount as a one‑time infrastructure hookup cost rather than an ongoing utility payment.
Both measures passed with unanimous council votes. Staff said they would return with details on monitoring‑well data sharing and any follow‑up cost information about the pool project.
