Principal Dr. Courtney Carmichael presented staff and student recognitions at the March 24 meeting, reading nomination comments and announcing Kaitlin Gallagher as Teacher of the Year and Jessica Berberian as Educational Service Professional of the Year for 2025–26.
Carmichael described Gallagher's classroom practices and colleagues’ praise for her creativity and student-centered instruction, and summarized colleagues’ nominations for Berberian, highlighting her work with kindergarten and student support.
The principal also updated the board on school activities: Read Across America events, the Seussical musical (this week), a Boosterthon fundraising kickoff and a fun run on April 2, National Junior Honor Society inductions, and Pi Day celebrations. Carmichael said the district has $45,000 left from a Local Recreation Improvement Grant and estimated the main playground rebuild at about $120,000; the PTO has pledged $30,000 toward the playground as part of a multi-year centennial fundraising effort scheduled to complete by 2028.
The board approved formal resolutions recognizing both honorees.
