Interim Superintendent Giovanni Giancaspro told the Rochelle Park Board of Education on Feb. 24 that administrators have met with Hackensack officials to review options for the district’s send/receive high‑school relationship but that no decision has been made.
"There has been no decision, our meeting with Hackensack was very productive," Giancaspro said, noting the district added a link on the Rochelle Park website to Hackensack’s site so parents can learn about academic, athletic and extracurricular offerings. He said administrators are exploring shared professional development and programmatic options such as remedial, enrichment, gifted‑and‑talented and career/technical pathways that might benefit students who do not pursue a traditional college track.
Board members and several members of the public pressed for more information about alternatives and timelines. A parent asked whether Rochelle Park was conducting parallel outreach to other districts; Giancaspro said the district has begun conversations and will continue to gather information so families can make informed choices.
What’s next: Administration said discussions will continue; no board vote or change to the send/receive arrangement occurred at the meeting.
