The Rochelle Park Board of Education voted Jan. 27 to shift the spring parent‑teacher conference schedule and to adopt the 2026–2027 school calendar as presented.
On a motion from Board members, the board moved spring conferences from Tuesday, March 10, 2026 to Thursday, March 12, 2026, making March 10 a full day of instruction and March 12 a half day. The board then approved the 2026–2027 school calendar; Interim Superintendent Giovanni Giancaspro noted the adopted calendar is aligned with Hackensack.
Why it matters: parents in public comment asked whether the next school year would start before Labor Day; the interim superintendent confirmed the adopted calendar will start prior to Labor Day and cautioned there was one outstanding check that staff needed to confirm. The change to conference scheduling affects family planning and student schedules.
The board also discussed operational reminders about drop‑off and dismissal procedures and encouraged families to use the drop‑off lanes and follow SLEO directions to keep traffic flowing. Several parents suggested staggered arrival times and longer drop‑off windows to reduce congestion; the board said staff will continue to work on solutions.
The calendar revision and the 2026–2027 calendar were approved by voice vote during the meeting. No additional changes were adopted at the meeting.
