The Modesto City Schools Board of Trustees voted on Nov. 17 to adopt two resolutions of intent (25‑26‑15 and 25‑26‑16) to convey access‑only public utility easements to Modesto Irrigation District for electrical infrastructure needed for upcoming construction projects at Orville Wright Elementary and Modesto High School.
Associate presenter Mister Zirley explained the easements would grant MID access to perform future maintenance, repair and replacement of electrical infrastructure and that the conveyance is an access‑only dedication, not the sale of district property. "There is no fiscal impact in dedicating our property for a public utility easement," Zirley said.
For resolution 25‑26‑15 (Orville Wright Elementary), Trustee Brown moved and Trustee Daley seconded the motion. The board approved the resolution by roll call with the following votes: Brown — Aye; Daley — Aye; Lopez — Aye; Marks — Aye; Vice President Mejia — Aye; President Maestas — Aye; Trustee Ervin — absent. The board set the public hearing on the conveyance for Dec. 15, 2025.
For resolution 25‑26‑16 (Modesto High School), Vice President Mejia moved and Trustee Lopez seconded; the board approved the resolution by roll call with the same result (unanimous with one absent) and set the public hearing for Dec. 15, 2025.
Both items were presented as part of ongoing facilities work tied to district construction programs and Measure L improvements; trustees had no substantive opposition and approved both items.
