Board approves transportation contracts, speech therapy vendor and afterschool stipends; ratifies bus evacuation drills

At its Nov. 6 meeting the Woodland Park Board approved several operational contracts and program payments.

The board authorized transportation contracts through the Northern Regional Educational Services Cooperative for identified routes (examples listed in the minutes include route Q3086 — estimated cost $12,650 + $379.50 — and Q3087 — estimated cost $10,175 + $305.25) for the 2023–24 school year. The motion passed by roll call.

The board also approved a contract with Good Talking People, LLC to provide speech therapy services to cover leave replacement, up to five days per week at $100/hour.

On safety matters the board ratified that required school bus evacuation drills had been conducted for the 2023–24 year at the listed schools with dates, times and route numbers recorded in the minutes, citing NJAC 6A:27‑11.2. The minutes show the vote for drills ratification recorded 5 YES and 1 ABSTENTION (Mark Salemi).

The board approved stipends for afterschool academies across district schools: $780 per administrative supervisor for the specified academy period (11/13/23–12/14/23) and $46/hour for advisors running programs at Memorial, Beatrice Gilmore and Charles Olbon schools (detailed activity lists included in the minutes).
