At its July 17 meeting the Woodland Park Board of Education approved several contracts and service agreements critical to district operations for 2023–24. The board voted to contract with the Northern Region Educational Services Commission for substitute-teacher services at a cost of $14,672 and approved two contracts with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind & Visually Impaired to provide services to identified students at $2,200 each.
The board appointed CoppaMontalbano Architects as the district’s school architect for 2023–24 and approved an hourly rate schedule: Principals $185, Associates $155, staff architect $145, CADD draftsperson $108 and technical/clerical $83. The approval carries a 7–0 roll-call vote.
Transportation arrangements for field trips and special-education routes were also approved through NRESC, with sample per-route estimated costs from subcontractors (examples shown in the agenda: Jersey Kids, Jordan Trans, Joshua Tours and R&May with per-route amounts ranging in sample lines from about $74.96 to $185.40 depending on service and timing). The board approved one out-of-district placement for a special-education student at the NRESC Phoenix Center for Sept. 6, 2023–June 30, 2024, with a listed program cost of $52,000 (transportation excluded).
