Teresa: community grant funds $400 deposits for Housing Choice Voucher clients, members say

Teresa told the committee that the community service partnership grant awarded to the Warsaw Housing Authority supports rental-education classes and provides up to $400 toward a security deposit for some Housing Choice Voucher recipients.
"That program is just instrumental and crucial to the people that they serve," Teresa said, describing feedback from homeless service providers and the Warsaw Housing Authority. She said the grants deposit assistance comes out of that grant money and that providers described the program as crucial for clients trying to secure housing.
The Chair noted the committee provides $35,000 to the Warsaw Housing Authority and described the funding as an important local resource. Members in the meeting thanked staff for supporting the program and said they had heard positive feedback from partner organizations.
No vote was required on the grant update; members treated the report as an informational update and thanked Teresa for the on-the-ground feedback.
