The Chair asked for an update on mural-related language from staff. Justin (S3) said he had been working with the city attorney, Chris, on draft language and hoped the commission would see proposed language next month, though staff capacity with the city attorney could delay it. "I'm hoping comes next month, but I can't guarantee that just because Chris is by himself right now," Justin said.
Justin added the city is looking at the sign ordinance as a whole because state regulations may affect local sign rules. "That whole sign ordinance needs to be overhauled," Justin said, and staff intends to coordinate mural and signage language so they align.
Commissioners noted they are seeing more murals on building sides and discussed whether mural policy and frontage requirements should be considered together. Staff said the intention is to prepare combined updates for commissioners' review. No formal action was taken; staff were asked to continue drafting the proposed language and return with a draft for review next month if possible.
