Groton council makes multiple appointments, reappointments and approves veterans representative job description

The council approved a package of appointments, reappointments and personnel actions during its July 7 meeting.
Councilor Fitzgerald moved to appoint Fenty Lee (Republican) as an alternate member of the Planning & Zoning Commission with a term ending Dec. 31, 2026; the motion passed 9-0-0. Councilor Jones moved to reappoint Daniel Hansen (unaffiliated) as a full member of the Fair Rent Commission through July 1, 2029; that motion also passed unanimously.
On personnel, the council approved a new job description for a municipal veterans representative. The motion carried with one abstention by Councilor Pacino (vote recorded as 8 yes, 0 no, 1 abstain). Councilors who spoke said they hoped qualified veterans would apply for the position.
The council accepted and filed the FY2025 annual comprehensive financial report, auditors' reports, and management letter by unanimous vote. The council also passed a resolution requesting Planning & Zoning to approve an honorary designation of Seeley School Drive as William Seeley Drive to honor a Groton service member; the motion passed 9-0-0.
